About the race
The Midwest Everest is a two day trail running event at Cannonsburg Ski Hill in Belmont, MI, taking place September 26-27, 2026. The event offers multiple distances that use the ski hill and surrounding single track.
- 100 Mile: Over 30,000 ft gain and loss, 152 everesting loops.
- 50 Mile: Over 15,000 ft gain and loss, 76 everesting loops.
- Sunset 10K: Trail tour including the main hill summit.
- Sunrise 20K: Two laps of the 10K course on single track.
- Summer Everest Challenge: Complete 137 loops before race day then finish 15 loops.
The ultra courses center on short everesting loops up the Cannonsburg quad and down the double ski runs, with additional two mile trail loops that runners may run at any time to break up the repetitions. The 100 mile event has a 36 hour cutoff. Pacers are not allowed.
Participants should bring a headlamp and extra batteries when running in low light; a headlamp is recommended for every distance except the Sunday Sunrise 20K. Races are capped at 200 entrants per event. Finish awards include a one of a kind belt buckle for 100 mile finishers and custom medals for other distances. Aid stations will offer cold and hot food and breakfast is provided on Sunday morning. The Summer Everest Challenge requires prior signup and is based on self tracking.
