Midwest Everest
Midwest Everest is a multi-distance trail event held at Cannonsburg Ski Area in Belmont, Michigan on September 26-27, 2026. The course is mostly packed single track with small sections of sand and grass field.
Distances and formats:
- Full Everest 100 mile with over 29,029 ft gain and 29,029 ft loss
- Base Camp 50 mile with over 14,500 ft gain and 14,500 ft loss
- Sunset 10K 6.2 miles single track plus one main hill climb
- Sunrise 20K two loops of the 10K course
The 50 mile and 100 mile events use repeated short everesting loops - a 0.6 mile hill segment with about 200 ft elevation gain - plus optional ~2 mile trail loops through the woods. The 100 mile distance comprises 152 everesting loops and four 2 mile trail loops and has a 36 hour cutoff. The 50 mile distance comprises 76 everesting loops and two 2 mile trail loops and has a 35 hour cutoff.
An aid station and drop bag area are located at the start/finish between the two ski runs; there will be port-a-potties and regular crew access each loop. Pacing is not allowed. Participant limits apply: combined 100 mile and 50 mile fields are limited to 80 entrants and the 10K/20K field is limited to 100 entrants. Finish recognitions include a custom buckle for 100 mile finishers and medals for 50 mile, 10K, and 20K finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
