Event Overview
The Midwest Everest is an ultramarathon event held at Cannonsburg Ski Hill in Belmont, Michigan, on September 26-27, 2026. It features four race distances over two days.
Race Distances & Format
The event offers the following distances:
- Full Everest – 100 miles with over 30,000 feet of ascent and descent. The primary route consists of repeated ascents up the Cannonsburg Quad ski lift and descents down the Double ski run, with optional ~2 mile trail loops on wooded single track.
- Base Camp – 50 miles with over 15,000 feet of ascent and descent. This follows a similar, shorter loop format on the ski hill with optional trail loops.
- Sunset 10K – A 10 km race on Saturday evening on trails across the Cannonsburg property.
- Sunrise 20K – A 20 km race on Sunday morning consisting of two laps of the 10K course.
Runners are responsible for bringing their own headlamps for all distances except the Sunday Sunrise 20K. Pacers are not allowed in any race.
Participant Information
The event is capped at 200 participants per race distance. Finishers in the 100-mile race receive a belt buckle, while finishers in the 50-mile, 20K, and 10K races receive a custom medal. Combo racers (Sunset 10K/Sunrise 20K) receive a unique hand-painted award.
An aid station provides cold and hot food, and breakfast is offered on Sunday morning. A portion of each entry fee is donated to a non-profit partner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
