Midwest Everest
Midwest Everest is a multi distance trail running event at Cannonsburg Ski Hill in Belmont, Michigan, held September 26 to 27, 2026. The event includes multiple race distances across two days on the ski area and surrounding single track.
Distances
- 100 mile Full Everest
- 50 mile Base Camp
- Sunset 10K
- Sunrise 20K
- Sunset 10K / Sunrise 20K Combo
The 100 mile and 50 mile courses use repeated short "everesting" loops up the Cannonsburg Quad and down the Double ski runs, supplemented by approximately two mile trail loops through wooded single track that can be run at any time. The Full Everest covers over 30,000 feet of ascent and descent and is set to a 36 hour cutoff. The 50 mile event covers over 15,000 feet of ascent and descent.
The Sunset 10K tours additional hills and trails on the Cannonsburg property and includes a climb to the top of the main hill. The Sunrise 20K consists of two laps of the 10K course on single track and the ski hill and takes place on Sunday morning.
Race operations note that ski hill lights are not available; participants are responsible for bringing a headlamp and extra batteries. Pacers are not allowed. A portion of each entry fee and some shirt opt outs support a chosen non profit partner. Races are capped at 200 entrants per event. Finishers receive event specific awards and there will be staffed aid stations with hot and cold food. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
