Midstate Massive Ultra Trail (October 10-11, 2026)

The Midstate Massive Ultra Trail is a UTMB Index event held over October 10-11, 2026. The event offers point-to-point races through central Massachusetts with border crossings into New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Race distances include:

  • 100 mile
  • 50 mile
  • 50k

The races follow the historic Midstate Trail and its pre-marked yellow triangle blazes.

Course, elevation and format

Reported elevation gain for the courses is: 100 mile - 13,615 ft; 50 mile - 5,395 ft; 30 mile (listed as 32 miles) - 3,332 ft. The courses mix mountains, fields, roads and rivers in the region.

The event uses point-to-point routing and wave starts for the 100 mile and 50 mile fields, seeding runners from slowest to fastest. Wave starts and aid station cutoff times are used to manage trail impact and on-course support. Race staff may hold runners who are outrunning the planned support as defined by aid station open and close times. Runners provide an estimated pace for wave assignment and can update that estimate through their Ultrasignup account until registration closes.

Locations by race start/finish are listed as New Ipswich, NH (100M); Rutland, MA (50M); and Spencer, MA (50K). Registration closes on Mon, Sep 28. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
