Midstate Massive Ultra Trail

The Midstate Massive Ultra Trail is a UTMB Index point to point ultramarathon held in central Massachusetts with course sections that cross into New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The route follows the historic Midstate Trail and its pre marked yellow triangle blazes, and traverses mountains, fields, roads, and river crossings.

Race formats include:

  • 100 Miler
  • 50 Miler
  • 50K

Course locations are listed by distance: 100M in New Ipswich, NH; 50M in Rutland, MA; 50K in Spencer, MA. The event provides on course support with aid stations; cutoff times at aid stations are based on the wave start model.

Wave starts are used for the 100 mile and 50 mile events, with runners seeded from slowest to fastest to reduce trail impact and to maintain support along the course. Entrants must provide an estimated pace to help with seeding and may edit that estimate through their Ultrasignup account until registration closes. Race staff reserve the right to hold any runner who is outrunning the published aid station open and close times. The organizer warns that runners who outrun race support may arrive at an aid station without food, water, or medical support.

Published elevation gain figures: 100 mile 13,615 ft; 50 mile 5,395 ft; 30 mile (32 miles) 3,332 ft. Registration closes Mon, Sep 28 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
