Midstate Massive Ultra Trail : October 10 - 11, 2026

The Midstate Massive Ultra Trail is a point-to-point ultramarathon event held across central Massachusetts with border crossings into New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The event offers three race options: 100 Miler, 50 Miler, and 50K. Start locations are listed as 100M in New Ipswich, NH; 50M in Rutland, MA; and 50K in Spencer, MA. The races follow the historic Midstate Trail and use pre-marked yellow triangle blazes.

Course, format and logistics

The event is an UTMB Index race and uses wave starts, with runners seeded slowest to fastest for the 100M and 50M to manage trail impact and on-course support. Aid station cutoff times are based on the wave model, and race staff may hold runners who are outrunning race support. Entrants must provide an estimated pace for wave seeding; this estimate can be edited through the Ultrasignup account until registration closes. Registration closes on Mon, Sep 28 at 11:59PM ET.

Course elevation gains published for the event are:

  • 100 mile: 13,615 ft gain
  • 50 mile: 5,395 ft gain
  • 30 mile (32 miles): 3,332 ft gain

The races traverse a mix of mountains, fields, roads and rivers and take place during the height of New England autumn. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
