Midstate Massive Ultra Trail - October 10 - 11, 2026
The Midstate Massive Ultra Trail is a UTMB Index point-to-point trail event offering three distance options that follow the historic Midstate Trail. Courses run through mountains, fields, roads and rivers of central Massachusetts and include border crossings into New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The trail is pre-marked with yellow triangle blazes.
Distances and primary locations:
- 100 Miler, New Ipswich NH
- 50 Miler, Rutland MA
- 50K, Spencer MA
Course elevation gains provided by the organizer include 13,615 ft gain for the 100 mile course and 5,395 ft gain for the 50 mile course. A shorter course is listed as 30 mile (32 miles) with 3,332 ft gain.
The events use point-to-point routing with wave starts. For the 100M and 50M races, runners are seeded slowest to fastest to reduce trail impact and to stagger on-course support. Aid station cutoff times rely on the wave model. Estimated pace is used for wave placement and can be updated through the race registration system until registration closes on Mon, Sep 28 at 11:59 PM ET. Race staff reserve the right to hold any runner who is outrunning on-course support as defined by aid station open and close times. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
