Midstate Massive Ultra Trail : October 9-10, 2027

The Midstate Massive Ultra Trail is scheduled for October 9-10, 2027 in New Ipswich, New Hampshire. The event is an UTMB Index race with point-to-point courses that run through mountains, fields, roads and rivers of central Massachusetts and include border crossings into New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The route follows the Midstate Trail and its pre-marked yellow triangle blazes.

There are three distance options with recorded elevation gain:

100 mile 13,615 ft gain, New Ipswich NH
50 mile 5,395 ft gain, Rutland MA
50 kilometer 3,332 ft gain, Spencer MA

The event uses wave starts for the 100M and 50M fields, seeded slowest to fastest. Aid station cutoff times and on-course support are based on this wave start model. Runners are asked to provide an estimated pace for proper seeding and may edit that estimate through their Ultrasignup account until registration closes. Organizers reserve the right to hold any runner who is outrunning race support as defined by aid station open and close times.

Registration opens Tuesday, December 1, 2026 at 12:00 AM ET. Event merchandise is available through the race website. There is an unofficial Facebook group for participants that is not moderated by race staff. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
