Midstate Massive Ultra Trail
Midstate Massive Ultra Trail is a point to point endurance event that follows the Midstate Trail through Massachusetts during the peak of autumn. The event offers multiple distance options with distinct start and finish locations.
- 100M: Windblown Camping in New Ipswich NH to DCR Douglas State Forest MA
- 50M: DCR Rutland Long Pond, Rutland MA to DCR Douglas State Forest MA
- 50K: DCR Howe State Park, Spencer MA to DCR Douglas State Forest MA
The 100M and 50M races are UTMB Index events and completion awards a UTMB Performance Index. The event is sanctioned by USA Track and Field. Field limits are set at 200 for the 100M, 150 for the 50M, and 150 for the 50K. Cutoff windows apply: the 100M is 33 hours from the first wave start, the 50M is 20 hours from the first wave start, and the 50K has a 9 hour cutoff from its mass start.
Wave starts are used for the 100M and 50M to reduce trail impact and preserve race support; runners are seeded by estimated pace and may be held if they outrun support. Aid stations are staffed with food and rehydration products; all aid stations are cupless so runners must carry their own container. EMS coverage is provided at aid stations and start/finish areas.
Pacers may join after the 50 mile point with limits and registration requirements. Crew access is allowed only at specified aid stations and is prohibited after Aid Station 13. All finishers receive technical shirts, a custom mug, buckles and medals, and distance-specific finishers awards; top three overall finishers must be present to receive awards.
