Mid-South Races for Hope
Mid-South Races for Hope, formerly known as the Mid-South Marathon, is an annual running event in Wynne, Arkansas, organized by the Cross County community for its 27th year. The event offers three race distances and takes place on an out-and-back course that goes through part of the historic district and continues along Crowley's Ridge through agricultural fields.
The start and finish lines are located at Wynne Baptist Church. The marathon course is certified and may be used to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Aid stations are placed approximately every mile, with port-o-potties located near each station. Each aid station is supplied with Vaseline, Gatorade, fruit, and snacks.
At the finish line, a traditional championship BBQ plate supper is served for finishers and their families. The community notes ongoing recovery from the March 31, 2023 tornado and describes local efforts to rebuild. Instead of a central pasta dinner, local restaurants will offer pasta specials during the marathon weekend.
