Miami 50/50
Miami 50/50 is an urban open road ultramarathon held in Miami, Florida. The event is a 50 miles two person team race in which both runners remain together for the full distance. Teams must be self supported; no crew or aid stations are provided and there are no individual finishes. Finish or DNF decisions apply to the team as a whole.
The course travels through several Miami neighborhoods, including Wynwood, Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, Calle Ocho, Coconut Grove and Brickell. Runners navigate the route using directional cards and must follow pedestrian laws while sharing sidewalks and pedestrian paths with traffic. The first portion of the course map is provided on the morning of the race prior to the race start; remaining sections are given at manned checkpoints along the route, approximately every 10 to 15 miles.
Drop bags are allowed at each checkpoint. The race field is limited to 30 teams. There are three divisions: Male Team, Female Team and Co-Ed Team. Race check-in and packet pick up occur on the Friday before the race evening, and there is a mandatory pre-race briefing that applies to runners who have not previously participated in the Miami Ultra Race Series.
All pre-race activities and the start and finish locations take place at Hero Martial Arts, 17049 S. Dixie Hwy, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. Registration closes on the Wednesday before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
