29th Annual Merrimack Sparkler 5k Run/Walk
The Merrimack Sparkler 5k Run/Walk is an annual community event held in Merrimack, New Hampshire, on the 4th of July. Organized by the Merrimack Road Runners Booster Club, this event serves as the primary fundraiser for the local middle school and high school track and cross country programs. The proceeds support coaching, equipment, travel expenses, and scholarships for graduating seniors.
The event features two distinct distances:
- 5k Run/Walk
- 400 meter Kids Fun Run
The race route starts and finishes on the track at Merrimack High School. The 5k course is open to participants of various ages, with a tiered registration fee schedule based on the date of entry and the age of the participant. The Kids Fun Run is a free event held on the high school track.
T-shirts are provided to the first 150 participants who register for the 5k. Participants can collect their race materials during an early bib pick-up session the day before the event at the Merrimack VFW, or at the high school on the morning of the race. Awards are presented to the top two overall male and female finishers, as well as the top two finishers in several age categories ranging from under 8 to over 70.
