Merrimack Sparkler 5k Run/Walk
The Merrimack Sparkler 5K is the 29th annual July 4 event hosted by the Merrimack Road Runners Booster Club. Net proceeds benefit the Merrimack High and Middle School track and cross country programs. The Booster Club is a volunteer organization that supports the town's middle school and high school running programs and awards five $500 scholarships to graduating seniors each year.

- 3.1 Miles, 5k Run/Walk
- 400 m, Kids Fun Run on the track (free)
The event serves as the Booster Club's largest fundraiser and directs funds toward coaching stipends, clothing stipends, replacement of equipment, and travel expenses for athletes. The race starts and finishes on the Merrimack High School track; races have used the track since 2021. The first 150 5k registrants receive a Sparkler 5k t-shirt.
Registration fee schedule for the 5k: On or before March 31, 2026: Adults $30.00, Youth (13 and younger) $20.00. April 1 through July 2, 2026: Adults $35.00, Youth (13 and younger) $25.00. Beginning July 3: Late registration $40.00 for all participants.
Bib pickup is available early on Friday, July 3 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the VFW in Merrimack (282 Daniel Webster Hwy) and also on race morning. Awards are given to the top two overall male and female and the top two male and female in each age group: 1-8, 9-11, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
