Mental Health Matters 5k Walk/Run for Awareness
The Mental Health Matters Walk/Run is a timed 5K event held on September 19, 2026, on the UNC Asheville campus in Asheville, North Carolina. The event is organized by All Souls Counseling Center and includes a Health and Resource Fair featuring regional mental health and wellness organizations. Proceeds support All Souls Counseling Center's mission to provide accessible counseling to adults who are underinsured or uninsured in Western North Carolina.
Participants may choose between a campus route and laps around UNCA's Karl Straus Track. The event will be professionally chip timed. Water and snacks will be provided; participants are advised to bring a reusable water bottle. Strollers are permitted. Pets are not allowed except for service animals on the campus route. Registration fees are non-refundable. The first 400 registrants will receive an event T-shirt and sizes cannot be exchanged on the day of the event.
Packet pickup is scheduled for the day before the event at the Asheville Chamber of Commerce with a drive-through option; others may pick up on race morning if needed. Awards include a $50 gift card for the top finisher in each gender division and eco-friendly medals for the top three finishers in each gender division by age group.
