Mental Health Matters 5k Walk/Run for Awareness
The Mental Health Matters event is a 5K walk and run on September 19, 2026, on the UNC Asheville campus in Asheville, NC, hosted by All Souls Counseling Center. The event includes a community Health and Resource Fair with mental health and wellness organizations from the region.
Participants may choose between two route options: a campus route and a loop around UNC Asheville's Karl Straus Track. The campus route is described as moderately hilly. The 5K will be professionally chip timed in 2026. Strollers are allowed. Pets are not permitted except for Service Animals on the campus route only.
The event offers tiered registration pricing and free entry for people age 22 and under. Race packet pickup is available the day before at the Asheville Chamber of Commerce via drive-through pickup. T-shirts are provided to the first 400 registrants; vendor T-shirt availability is limited and sizes are not exchangeable on event day. Walk/run registration fees are non-refundable and the event operates rain or shine.
Awards include a $50 gift card for the top finisher in each gender division and eco-friendly medals for the top three finishers in each gender division within the listed age groups. UNC Asheville requires paid parking for all vehicles; the posted parking rate was $3 as of April 28, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
