Mental Health Matters 5k Walk/Run for Awareness
This event is a professionally chip timed 5K walk/run hosted by All Souls Counseling Center on the UNC Asheville campus. It pairs a community Health and Resource Fair featuring regional mental health and wellness organizations with fundraising to support accessible counseling for underinsured and uninsured adults in Western North Carolina. Two route options are offered: a campus route and a loop around the Karl Straus Track.
Registration includes tiered fees with free entry for participants 22 and under and a T-shirt giveaway for the first 400 registrants; vendor registrations and a community resource fair are part of the event. Race packets can be picked up in advance at the Asheville Chamber of Commerce via a drive-through pickup, and packet pickup is also available on race morning. The event is rain or shine and walk/run registration fees are non-refundable.
On course logistics include professional chip timing, provision of water and snacks, allowance of strollers, and a restriction on pets except for Service Animals on the campus route. UNC Asheville requires paid parking. Awards include a $50 gift card for the top finisher in each gender division and eco-friendly medals for the top three finishers in each gender division by age group; age groups start at 9 and under and extend to 70 and over.
