Mendon Trail Run - Mendon Ponds Park, Mendon NY
The Mendon Trail Run is a multi-distance trail event held on the east side of Mendon Ponds Park near Stewart Lodge and organized by the Rochester Orienteering Club. Distances offered are:
- 50K - 4750 ft of climb; five 10K loops.
- Half marathon (21.1K) - 2000 ft of climb; one short loop plus two 10K loops.
- 10K - 950 ft of climb; single off-road loop.
- 5K - 450 ft of climb; shares the 10K route for 3.7 km then returns.
The 10K loop is entirely off-road, mostly doubletrack with some singletrack, marked turns at trail junctions, a single road crossing marked with traffic cones, rolling hills, and one short rocky downhill section. For the 50K, runners complete five repeats of the 10K loop. The half marathon uses a short 1.1 km loop plus two 10K loops. The 5K follows the 10K route for most of its distance and has no aid stations.
Aid support includes a fully stocked mid-loop station offering small cups of M&Ms, gummi bears, pretzels, Pringles, dill pickle slices, and fig newtons, plus water, Gatorade, flat cola, ginger ale, and pickle juice; volunteers may hand food to participants in accordance with park health rules. A water and Gatorade station is available at the start/finish of each loop. Participants are advised to bring a collapsible cup or bottle.
Administrative notes: registration closes on Nov 6 at 11:59 PM ET. Refunds minus a 20% fee are available until Oct 15. Shirt orders require requests by Oct 11; bib transfers are allowed until Oct 24. Pacers are permitted only in the 50K for the final two loops under specified rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
