Mendon Trail Run
The Mendon Trail Run is organized by the Rochester Orienteering Club at Stewart Lodge, Mendon Ponds Park. The event offers looped trail races over several distances with measured climbs and marked routes.
Distances and climbs:
- 50K - 4750 ft of climb
- Half marathon (21.1K) - 2000 ft of climb
- 10K - 950 ft of climb
- 5K - 450 ft of climb
The primary loop is a 10 km course on trails and grassy fields. The route is marked at turns and trail junctions, with cones at the road crossing. The course has many rolling hills, is mostly runnable, and includes one fairly short rocky downhill section where footing can be tricky. The total elevation difference between the low and high points is about 300 ft. Each 10K loop crosses park roads twice; runners are responsible for their own safety when crossing roads.
Aid and logistics: there is a fully stocked mid-loop aid station offering small cups of snacks, water, Gatorade, and other drinks; volunteers may hand food to runners per park health rules. An aid station with water and Gatorade is available at the start/finish of each loop. There is a field limit of 350 runners.
Half marathon runners complete a short 1.1 km loop before doing two 10K loops. The 5K follows the 10K route in the opposite direction for the first 3.7 km then returns along a shorter course.
Awards include overall male and female winners plus 10-year age group prizes; all 50K finishers receive a race souvenir. Refunds are available with a full refund minus a 20% administration fee through October 03. Pacers are permitted only in the 50K for the last two loops and must follow event pacer rules and a waiver.
