Event Overview
The Memorial Day Hero Salute is an annual multi-discipline event held at Town Center Park in Kingwood, Texas. Organized by Rad Racing Company, this second annual edition features a variety of traditional road races alongside specific physical fitness challenges known as Hero Races. The event serves as a fundraiser for organizations including Semper Fi & Americas Fund, Impact a Hero, and We Run for Him.
Race Options
Participants can choose from several distance and format options:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- MURPH: 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air-squats, and a 1-mile run.
- LOREDO: 6 rounds of 24 air-squats, 24 push-ups, 24 lunges, and a 0.25-mile run.
- Kids Mini-Salute: A timed event for ages 10 and under involving running and bodyweight exercises.
A virtual participation option is available for the Half Marathon, 5K, MURPH, and LOREDO events, allowing participants to complete their chosen distance at any location.
Race Day Experience
The venue at Town Center Park hosts pre-race activities including music and vendor booths. Following the completion of the timed events, a tug-of-war competition takes place for children and winners. All registered participants receive a custom race shirt, a finishers medal, and a race bib. Overall and age-group awards are presented for the top three finishers in various categories.
The course remains open until mid-morning, with the schedule including a collective warm-up and commemorative announcements prior to the first starts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
