Event details

The Melmerby Triathlon is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Melmerby Beach Provincial Park in Little Harbour, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. The event offers four race options:

  • Try-A-Tri: 200 m swim, 10 km bike, 2 km run (not timed)
  • Super Sprint: 200 m swim, 10 km bike, 2 km run (timed)
  • Sprint: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
  • Olympic: 1500 m swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run

Teams of two or three may enter; two- and three-person team captain entries are listed with separate pricing and team members are listed as free in the registration options. The event is presented by the YMCA of Pictou County.

Course and logistics

The swim course is a rectangle set close to shore, arranged as a loop: one loop for the Sprint, two loops for the Olympic, and a partial loop for the shorter events. All bike courses are out-and-back routes. The run uses a loop course that follows the beach road and connects to shaded trails at the end of the road; the run is described as flat. The Try-A-Tri and Super Sprint use a short up-and-back run (1 km each way), while the Sprint and Olympic use one or two larger loops respectively.

Race kit items include race bibs, swim cap, finishing medal, Atlantic chip timing, free race photos, and free on-site parking near the transition area. Dry-fit shirts are available for an additional fee. The transition area will remain closed until bicycles are re-racked for participant safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
