Mellow Trail Race
The Mellow Trail Race takes place at Pace Bend Park in Spicewood, Texas, on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Travis. The event is supported by the Travis County Parks Foundation and features a course consisting of twisty trails that flow over rocks, roots, and hard-packed terrain. One side of the peninsula offers zero-entry shores while the other features rocky cliff-edge shores. The finish line is positioned near the water's edge to allow participants to enter the lake after their run.
The event offers several race distances:
- 26.2 mi (two full loops)
- 13.1 mi (one full loop)
- 10k (two 5k loops)
- 5k (one shorter loop)
- Youth 1 mi (untimed)
The race is cupless, requiring participants to bring their own reusable bottles or collapsible cups. Staffed aid stations provide water, ice, electrolyte drinks, and various food options. For those participating in the longer distances, a self-service drop bag location is available near the nine-mile mark of the main loop.
All race distances are chip-timed using ankle straps. The event has a mass start for each distance, though the start line remains open briefly for those preferring a later entry. Pacers are permitted for runners in the 26.2 mi and 13.1 mi distances after two loops are completed, or for runners aged 60 and older for the duration of their race.
