Mellow Trail Race
Mellow Trail Race is set for September 12, 2026 at Pace Bend Park in Spicewood, Texas, on a peninsula that juts into Lake Travis. Distances offered include:
- 26.2 mi
- 13.1 mi
- 10k
- 5k
- Youth 1 mi
The route uses a main 13.1 mile loop with a 5k shortcut. The marathon is two full 13.1 mile loops; the 10k is two 5k loops. Both courses run clockwise. Trails include rocky, rooty and hard-packed sections with some elevation gains and lake outlooks. Course markings use orange caution tape, yellow arrows, and many confidence markers; markings include reflectors for low light.
The finish line arch is placed as close to Lake Travis as practical. Lake level can change yearly, so stated distances may vary slightly. The event is cupless to reduce waste; participants must bring a cup or water bottle. Collapsible cups are available for purchase at packet pickup for $7 cash or Venmo. Littering can result in disqualification.
There are staffed aid stations at the start/finish Lake A.S. and JACK A.S. Other aid stations provide at minimum water, Tailwind, ice and snacks. Runners on longer loops should be prepared to carry water across an exposed granite section. Drop bags may be left at the start/finish area or at the Gate spot about nine miles into the full loop; drop bags are not delivered or monitored.
All races are chip timed with ankle straps. Pacers are allowed after two full loops; runners aged 60 and older may have a pacer for the whole race. The Youth 1 Mile is untimed and provides a bib and finisher medal. Overall awards include top three male and female and top masters male and female categories.
