About the race
MELC Turkey Trot is the 15th annual community event held in Monmouth, Illinois on November 26, 2026. The event offers a 5K run/walk, a kids run, and virtual participation, with packet pickup at First United Methodist Church in Monmouth. The 5K course is described as mostly flat with one notable incline at Euclid Hill. The course starts on Broadway in front of MELC / First United Methodist Church and finishes at the square.
Awards for the 5K use gun time and recognize the top three male and top three female finishers. All children in the kids run receive medals. Additional options include a virtual run/walk where participants choose their own course and may complete it anytime in November. Children 10 and under receive a discounted registration for some options.
Timing and scoring are provided by ShaZam Racing. A fundraising campaign for MELC is associated with the event; the fundraising goal is $500. Shirts are offered with a stated cutoff date of Friday, November 6. Packet pickup is available the day before the race and on race day at First United Methodist Church; participants may pick up packets for friends or family and should enter through the front doors.
