RileyStrong 5K Run and Youth Fun Run
The RileyStrong 5K Run and Youth Fun Run is a community fundraising event held in Monmouth, Illinois, at the American Legion, 1110 N 11th Street. The event is presented as the 10th annual RileyStrong Fun Run and 5K and is held in memory of a child who died in August 2016 after a battle with rhabdomyosarcoma.
Proceeds support St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Event information notes that St Jude’s daily operating costs are cited at two million dollars and that most hospital funding comes from individual contributors.
The event program includes packet pick up on the day before at the American Legion and race day packet pick up at the race site. Awards are planned for participating children in the youth run, and additional RileyStrong and St Jude branded merchandise will be available for sale the morning of the event. Age group awards are listed for the 5K, and a color run format is noted for the 5K.
