McKenzie River Trail Run
The McKenzie River Trail Run is a trail ultramarathon held near Blue River, Oregon. The event covers 31 miles (50K) along the McKenzie River and the 2026 running is the 38th annual edition, described by the organizer as Oregon's oldest continuous ultramarathon. Net proceeds support McKenzie Bridge area non-profits and the event operates under a special use permit from the Willamette National Forest.
The course follows the river corridor and passes two waterfalls, Clear Lake, lava flows, old growth forest, numerous log bridges and the aquamarine Tamolitch Pool where the river emerges from an underground lava tube. The route begins at Carmen Reservoir near Hwy 126 and follows sections of the Waterfalls Trail, Santiam Wagon Road and the McKenzie River Trail to a finish across from the McKenzie River Ranger Station.
Aid stations are located approximately every 4 to 6 miles and will offer water, electrolyte drink, gels and typical aid station food. The race is CUPLESS; runners must bring a reusable cup or bottle. Drop bags can be delivered to Aid 3 at mile 16.7. Cutoffs are enforced beginning at aid station 2 near mile 11.5 and the intention is to have runners off course by 3:00 PM, allowing about eight hours to finish.
Entry fee, registration window, refund and waitlist policies are set by the organizer and the entry fee includes shuttle service between the community track and the start and finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
