Rainbow Ridge 20k/50k

This is the inaugural Rainbow Ridge trail race held in Rainbow, Oregon, based at the Upper McKenzie Community Center (54745 McKenzie River Dr, Blue River, OR 97413). Two distance options are offered:

  • 50K
  • 20K

The courses run on trails through old growth forest and volcanic terrain with sustained climbs and summit viewpoints. Notable summits reached on the courses include Horsepasture Mountain, Macduff Mountain, and Kings Castle, each providing expansive views of the McKenzie River valley and surrounding Cascades.

The 20K route climbs about 2,600 feet to the Kings Castle summit and returns mostly downhill. The 50K begins with a shuttle ride to a trailhead, includes several long climbs and ridge sections, an out-and-back through a creek drainage, and a final descent into the finish. Multiple aid stations are placed along both courses, including stations at O’Leary/Castle Rock and East Fork trailheads. Aid offerings include snacks at midcourse stations and a staffed community center finish with warm food and beverages.

Logistics include packet pickup the day before at a local retail location and race day packet pickup and check in at the community center. Registered runners can purchase event apparel through the event shop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
