Rainbow Ridge 20k/50k
The Rainbow Ridge event takes place in Rainbow, Oregon, and offers two distinct distances through the lush old-growth forests of the Pacific Northwest. The course features significant elevation changes and technical terrain shaped by volcanic activity, providing views of the McKenzie River valley and high Cascade peaks.
The event supports the local community by donating a portion of the proceeds to Bridgeway House, a school serving children with autism spectrum disorder and their families in Lane County.
Distances available:
- 50 km: A point-to-point course with over 8,000 feet of climbing and seven aid stations.
- 20 km: A loop starting from the community center with 2,600 feet of elevation gain.
The 50 km race begins with a shuttle ride to the Olallie North trailhead. Runners encounter multiple summits, including Horsepasture Mountain (5,675 ft), Macduff Mountain (5,060 ft), and Kings Castle. The route includes a mix of technical trails, switchbacks, and a final 2,700-foot descent over the last 6 miles. Participants can utilize a drop bag service located at the O'Leary/Castle Rock aid station.
The 20 km race starts at the Upper McKenzie Community Center. It features a climb to the Kings Castle summit followed by a long downhill section leading back to the finish line.
Finishers have access to post-race food, including pulled pork sandwiches and soup, at the community center. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
