SANGAMAM 5K Run and 2K Family Fun Water Gun Run or Walk
SANGAMAM is a community running event held on July 25, 2026, at the Tipton Trail South Shelter, 2401 General Electric Road, Bloomington, IL 61704. The name "Sangamam" in Tamil means confluence, assembly, or junction. The event aims to bring the local Indian community together and direct part of the registration proceeds to local nonprofits that work to overcome poverty and provide food supplies.
Distances offered
- 5K Run: Timed 5K on the paved Tipton Trail and/or the Constitution Trail adjacent to the Tipton Trail.
- 2K Family Fun Water Gun Run or Walk: Family-oriented 2K on the Tipton Trail South Shelter; toy water guns provided for registered children under 15.
Course and on-course services are described as paved trails with water stations available. Strollers and walkers are permitted; headphones are not allowed. Volunteers will be positioned at each mile marker and at intersections for traffic control, but the course will remain open to public traffic. Post-race kids' games are planned.
Packet pickup and race day registration are available at the Tipton Trail South Shelter. Registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes July 25, 2026; the listed registration fee is $15.00 per event.
Awards are planned for the 5K top overall male and female and for age brackets: 15 & Under, 16-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 60 & Up. The 2K has age-group awards: 3 & Under, 4-6, 7-9, 10-15. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
