Max Adventure Race Sunshine Coast : Wildhorse Mountain, QLD
The Max Adventure Race Sunshine Coast is a team event for pairs that combines trail running or hiking, mountain biking and kayaking with navigation. It is held at Wildhorse Mountain in Queensland and offers two course options: Classic and Novice. Categories include male, female and mixed teams.
The Classic course is relatively flat compared with other events in the series but uses a dense network of pine-forest trails that can be overgrown and require careful navigation. It includes on-water sections on the upper reaches of Pumistone Passage along Hussey Creek. Typical distances and durations are:
- Classic: 15–25 km mountain biking, 7–12 km trail running, 2–4 km kayaking.
- Novice: 5–15 km mountain biking, 3–5 km trail running, 1–2 km kayaking.
Most teams complete the Classic course in about 4–6 hours and Novice teams in about 2–4 hours. The overall advertised race window is 2–6 hours. Kayaks are provided for all courses and bike hire is available. The event centre is located just off the Bruce Highway and the course features viewpoints across the Glasshouse Mountains and the pine-forest trail network.
