MAW's Cause 5K and 1K Run/Walk
The 9th Annual MAW's Cause event takes place on October 18, 2026, in Norris, TN and offers three ways to participate: an in-person timed 5K, an in-person 1K Fun Run/Walk, and a virtual 5K. The event supports efforts to prevent sudden infant and early childhood death and to raise funds for related research and community programs.

Virtual participants register by September 24 and receive a race shirt by mail the week of the event. Virtual entries complete a 5K at a location of their choice on October 18 and are encouraged to share a completion photo on social media.
The in-person 5K runs through Norris and includes hilly sections. It is a timed race with winners recognized by age class; walkers, strollers and pets are welcome. Race shirts are distributed on race day during registration.
The in-person 1K is two loops around The Commons in Norris, a flatter course intended as a light walk. Strollers and pets are welcome. The 1K begins after the 5K is released, and shirts are provided on race day.
Adult registration is $35 and includes a race shirt. The organizing nonprofit was founded in 2017 in Knoxville and focuses on community awareness, caregiver education, newborn sleep sack distribution at local hospitals, and funding research.
