Matt's Run to Fight Hunger
Matt's Run to Fight Hunger and The Big Run have combined events to celebrate Global Running Day in Greensboro, North Carolina. This road running event is held in coordination with Second Harvest Food Bank to provide hunger relief for local families. Each dollar collected through the event provides six meals for those in need.
The event features a single distance held on local roads:
- 5K Fun Run
The race follows a route that begins and ends in the parking lot adjacent to Mt. Pisgah Church at 2600 Pisgah Church Rd. Registration for the fun run is free of charge, though participants are encouraged to make a donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Participants who donate and register by the specified deadline in mid-May are eligible to receive an event t-shirt.
This event was established to honor a 23-year daily running streak and continues as a community effort to support food security. All proceeds generated from the event are directed to the food bank. Packet pickup is available at the Fleet Feet Greensboro location on the day prior to the event and on the day of the run, as well as at the race site parking lot shortly before the start.
