Mathews Marathon & Half Marathon
The Mathews Marathon & Half Marathon is held on rural backroads in Mathews County, Virginia, on a fast, flat course that includes dirt, gravel and paved surfaces. The full marathon route passes three county beaches; the half marathon reaches one local beach. The start and finish are in the town center at Put In Creek Pavilion.

The event limits in-person participation to 500 runners. Both the full and half courses are USATF certified (Full: VA25016RT; Half: VA25015RT), making them Boston-qualifier courses. Volunteers and aid stations are staged approximately every 2.5–3 miles with water and gel. A suggested five-member relay plan is available, with transition points and leg distances noted on course materials.
Registration details state early and later pricing: before September 1 the full marathon is $100 and the half is $75; prices increase on September 1. Registration closes October 10; no race-day registration. No refunds within one month of the event, but registered entrants may transfer to the Virtual Race. Registered participants receive a custom hoodie sweatshirt and a finisher medal; top finishers and age-group awards are recognized.
Additional notes: a Friday carbo-load meal at the Mathews Family YMCA is included with registration, and strollers and pets are permitted on course. The event proceeds support local community groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
