Mathews Marathon & Half Marathon
The Mathews Marathon & Half Marathon is a road race held in Mathews County, Virginia, with a participant limit of 500. The event offers a full marathon and a half marathon, plus a relay option and a virtual race entry.

The courses are described as flat and fast and follow rural backroads that include dirt, gravel, and paved surfaces. The full marathon route reaches three county beaches; the half marathon reaches a local beach. Courses have USATF certification for Boston qualifying times: Full Marathon USATF Cert VA25016RT and Half Marathon USATF Cert VA25015RT. Volunteers are stationed about every 2.5 to 3 miles providing water and gel.
Registration details for 2026 include tiered fees: full marathon $100 before September 1 and $125 thereafter; half marathon $75 before September 1 and $100 thereafter. Registration closes on October 10. There is no race day registration. No refunds are issued within one month of the event date, but registrations may be transferred to the virtual race.
All registered participants receive a custom hoodie and a finisher medal. A Friday carbo load meal is provided to registered entrants by the Mathews Family YMCA.
