Mathews Marathon & Half Marathon
Mathews Marathon & Half Marathon is a USATF-certified Boston qualifier held in Mathews County, Virginia. The event uses a fast, flat course that runs along rural backroads and through the town of Mathews, with sections on dirt, gravel, and paved roads. The full marathon route reaches three county beaches; the half marathon also passes a local beach. Volunteers are stationed about every 2.5 to 3 miles with water and gel.

The start and finish are in the town center at Put In Creek Pavilion. The event has a participant limit of 500. Registration fees increase on September 1; there is no race-day registration. No refunds are issued within one month of the event date, but registrations may be transferred to the virtual race.
All registered participants receive a custom hoodie sweatshirt and a finisher medal. Top finishers and age group winners are recognized. A Friday carbo load meal is provided for registered participants and is hosted by the Mathews Family YMCA.
