General Information
The event is described as featuring a flat, fast course on quiet, rural backroads in Mathews County, Virginia. The route winds along a combination of dirt, gravel, and paved roads, and passes scenic countryside and beaches. The start and finish location is at Put In Creek Pavilion in the town center of Mathews. Volunteers are stationed every 2.5 to 3 miles along the course, providing water and gels. After the race, participants can visit the weekly farmers market on the courthouse green.
Course & Certification
The full and half marathon courses are USATF certified (Full Marathon: VA25016RT, Half Marathon: VA25015RT), making the full marathon a Boston Marathon qualifier.
Registration & Logistics
Registration has a participant limit of 500. Prices increase after September 1st. There is no race day registration. Refunds are not available within one month of the event date, though registrants can transfer to a virtual race option. All participants receive a custom hoodie sweatshirt and a finisher medal. Top finishers and age group winners are recognized. A free carbo-load dinner is hosted by the Mathews Family YMCA on the Friday evening before the race.
Guidelines
Strollers and pets are permitted on the race course. The event proceeds as scheduled barring weather-related disruptions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
