Overview
The Mathews Marathon & Half Marathon takes place in Mathews County, Virginia on October 18, 2025. The event offers a full marathon, a half marathon, a marathon relay and a virtual option. The course is described as fast and flat and uses dirt, gravel and paved rural backroads and parts of the town of Mathews. The full marathon route reaches three county beaches; the half marathon reaches a local beach.

Registration closes on October 11, 2025. Fees before September 1 are $85 for the full marathon and $60 for the half; fees rise to $100 and $75, respectively, on September 1. Virtual entry is $50. There is no race day registration, and no refunds within one month of the event; registrants may transfer to the virtual race. The race start and finish are in the town center of Mathews at Put In Creek Pavilion (near 117 Brickbat Rd). Aid stations with water and gel will be placed about every 2.5-3 miles. All participants receive a custom plaid shirt and a finisher medal. A carbo load dinner at the Mathews Family YMCA is included with registration. Strollers and pets are permitted on the course.
