Master of the Mountains Adventure Relay : Raton, New Mexico / Southern Colorado
The Master of the Mountains Adventure Relay is a multi-sport event held September 11-12, 2026. The course begins in Northeastern New Mexico at Sugarite Canyon State Park and Lake Maloya, then crosses into Southern Colorado for the biking and shooting elements. Elevation points noted for the course include paddling on Lake Maloya at about 7,500 feet and a bike route ascending to roughly 8,500 feet over San Francisco Pass.
The event format allows solo competitors or teams of two to four. The listed entry fees are $125 for solo competitors and $85 per team member. Relay divisions include male, female, and coed categories; some divisions may be combined depending on entries. The organizing group is Friends of Sugarite.
Course elements and approximate distances:
- Trail run: approx. 6 miles
- Paddling: approx. 3 miles on Lake Maloya
- Biking: approx. 15 miles on rugged dirt roads
- Shooting: shotgun course at Prator Gun Range
