The Vermejo Charcoal Burner takes place on May 15, 2027 at Vermejo Park Ranch near Raton, New Mexico. The event offers supported gravel rides and a supported half marathon on private ranch roads within the Vermejo property. Courses use two-track ranch roads, rural dirt roads, and well-maintained gravel roads. Aid stations are placed along the routes and event support is provided for both the gravel rides and the half marathon.

Equipment and entry details stated by the organizer include a prohibition on aero bars for the gravel rides. Class 1 and Class 3 pedal assist eBikes are permitted on the 41 mile course; riders on eBikes are not eligible for podiums. The 99 mile gravel ride has a combined men and women payout for top 5 overall with a stated minimum total payout of $4,200 and individual prizes for first through fifth.
