44th Annual Massapequa Firecracker 5K Run/Walk
The Massapequa Firecracker 5K Run/Walk returns for its 44th edition on June 14, 2026, in Massapequa Park, New York. This community athletic event takes place rain or shine, starting and ending at Brady Park. The race is sanctioned by USATF-Long Island and serves as an individual scoring race in the USATF-LI Grand Prix.
The event offers two main athletic distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1/4 Mile Fun Run (open to children age 10 and under)
The 5K follows a certified 3.1-mile course. It begins at the corner of Park and Clark Boulevards, heads north on Park Boulevard, and continues into the Preserve via Walker Street. The path then leads south on the bike path, back to Clark Boulevard, and finishes on Lake Shore Drive at Brady Park. Participants who register at least three weeks in advance receive a personalized bib.
Amenities for participants include dry-fit T-shirts for all registrants and cold towels for those finishing the 5K. The finish area at Brady Park features entertainment such as face painting and balloon animals. Awards are presented to top overall finishers, masters, and wheelchair athletes, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from 9 & under to 90+.
