Massapequa Firecracker 5K Run/Walk
The Massapequa Firecracker is an annual community road race held in June at Massapequa Park, New York. The event includes a certified 3.1 mile course and a separate kids fun run, and proceeds support Massapequa High School track scholarships.

All registered participants receive a dry-fit T-shirt and 5K finishers receive cold towels. Kids entertainment is provided, including clowns, balloon animals and face painting. Baked goods are given to finishers and raffle prizes are offered. Runners over 21 receive a complimentary Blue Point pint at the Tap Room in Massapequa Park after the race. Medals are awarded to all Fun Run finishers.
Awards include top overall and masters finishers, age-group prizes across standard age brackets, top Massapequa Park resident, and awards for wheelchair competitors. There is a monetary bonus available for a new course record and special prizes from local sponsors. The course is USATF certified and follows Park and Clark Boulevards into the Preserve, along the bike path and onto Lake Shore Drive, finishing at Brady Park.
