Massapequa Firecracker 5K Run/Walk : event details
The event is the 44th Annual Massapequa Firecracker 5K Run/Walk with a separate 1/4 mile kids fun run, held in Massapequa Park, NY. The event is scheduled Rain or Shine. Registration is not yet open and will open ahead of the listed date.
Amenities for registered participants include a high quality dry-fit T-shirt, cold towels for 5K finishers, baked goods for finishers provided by All Round Foods, kids entertainment such as clowns, balloon animals and face painting, raffle prizes, and a complementary Blue Point pint for runners over 21 at the Tap Room on Park Boulevard after the race. Medals are awarded to all fun run finishers.
Awards cover competitive and age-based categories: top three male and female overall finishers, top masters awards including the Roger Williams Award, top Massapequa Park resident, top three in standard age groups from 9 and under through 90 plus, and top three wheelchair finishers. There is a $100 bonus offered for a new course record; the current course records stand at 14:28 for men and 17:11 for women. Prize shoes are noted for top overall and masters finishers, with masters precedence applied to prizing.
The course is USATF certified and measures 3.1 miles, starting at Park and Clark Boulevards and finishing at Brady Park after a loop including Park Boulevard, Walker Street into the Preserve, the bike path, Clark Boulevard and Lake Shore Drive.
Bib pickup is available the day before at Runner's Edge in Farmingdale and on race day at Brady Park on Lake Shore Drive; a self lookup area is provided for bib numbers. Live online, email and text results are offered along with same-day finish line photos and free video. Proceeds fund Massapequa High School track scholarships.
