About the race
The Mason G. Smoak Foundation 5K is scheduled for October 17, 2026, at Devane Park (115 W Interlake Blvd) in Lake Placid, Florida. The event is organized by the Mason G. Smoak Foundation and held as part of a community gathering at Devane "Circle" Park.
Online registration opens February 20, 2026. Early online registration is available for $18 through October 2, 2026; a student discount of $5 applies to participants age 18 or younger through October 2, 2026. Late online registration is available for $22 through October 15, 2026. On-site registration on race day is a flat fee of $30. A race T-shirt is not included with registration.
Shirts are available for purchase during the early online registration period through October 2, 2026 and via the Runsignup.com store; shirts are not available for purchase during the late online registration period. A limited number of shirts will be available for purchase at the event.
Organizers recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the race to park, receive a race packet, warm up, use facilities, and line up. Race times will be posted after the event on the Mason G. Smoak Foundation website, the event Facebook page, and in the local paper.
The Mason G. Smoak Foundation is a 501(c)(3) faith-based organization that supports education, promotes environmental stewardship, and fosters leadership development. The foundation reports graduating over 298 students through its Youth Leadership Highlands program, distributing over $200,000 in community grants to more than 40 organizations, and awarding over $296,500 to 82 graduating seniors across Highlands, Hardee, and Desoto Counties.
After the race, a Fall Family Festival at Devane Circle Park will include games, food, an awards presentation, and snack items such as fresh-popped popcorn, caramel apples, and boiled peanuts. Corn hole and horseshoes will be available; most games are free and a minimal charge will apply to certain snacks and select games. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
