Mary Therese Rose Fund Timed Mile

The Mary Therese Rose Fund Timed Mile takes place at the Lakeland Regional High School track in Wanaque, New Jersey. This event transitions from a previous 5K format to a track-based competition held in memory of long-time supporter Rich DuHaime. The venue provides a controlled environment for participants to complete a measured distance on a standard athletic oval.

The event offers two distinct ways to participate:

  • 1 Mile (Richie's Race): A timed event where runners use the inner four lanes of the track to complete exactly four laps (5,280 feet).
  • Walk (Mary's Miles): A non-competitive walking option where participants use the inner oval and outer edges of the track.

The event is organized by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting children with special needs and their families. While walkers utilize the track area for fundraising and community support, runners have the opportunity to test their speed in a timed setting.

Registered runners in the mile event and walkers who collect a specific amount in donations are eligible to receive an event t-shirt on-site while supplies last. Registration for the timed mile is nonrefundable and includes an early entry period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
