About the race
The Market to Market Relay Nebraska is a day long team running relay that travels from the Omaha metro area to downtown Lincoln over roughly 75 miles (runner matrices total about 73.8 miles). The route is divided into multiple stages, each roughly 3 to 5 miles, and typical teams have six to eight runners with most runners covering about three stages.
The course uses a mix of bike trails, paved streets, gravel roads and crushed limestone paths. Notable segments include the Keystone and Papio trails near Omaha, runs through Walnut Creek Lake Recreation Area, long sections on the MoPac Trail, a crossing of the Platte River on the Lied Bridge, and a final approach into Lincoln that finishes in the Haymarket area near Memorial Stadium. Exchange points are distributed along the route; many exchanges are listed in the interactive course map and the race guide.
Course routing can change from year to year for reasons such as construction or trail access; the race guide provides the final maps and driving directions. The event manages team flow with holding zones at select exchanges to control early arrivals. After the team finish at Haymarket, organizers stage a post-race gathering that includes medals, food, drinks, music and team photos.
