Market Square Day 10K
The Market Square Day 10K is an annual road race that serves as the opening event for the Market Square Day celebration in Portsmouth. The event typically attracts approximately 1,000 participants who follow a course through various neighborhoods of the city.
The race route begins in the center of Downtown Portsmouth, specifically at Market Square in front of the North Church. As runners travel through the town, the course provides views of the city streets, where local residents often host neighborhood gatherings along the sidewalks. The race concludes at the historic Strawbery Banke location.
This event is part of the Seacoast Road Race Series, a collection of several races ranging from 5K to 10 km held across different communities in the Seacoast region between May and November. Because the race coincides with a larger festival, many downtown streets are closed to vehicle traffic, requiring participants to plan for alternative parking arrangements.
