Run for the Springs

Run for the Springs is a community 5K trail run held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Silver Springs State Park in Ocala, Florida. The event is described as family-friendly and includes a children's area, refreshments, and door prizes. The course follows scenic trails through forested areas and is unpaved in places; runners should be prepared to encounter loose and slippery rocks, tree roots, sand, asphalt, and gravel and participate at their own risk. Proceeds will be returned to Marion County residents and local businesses as grants to support septic maintenance and related repairs.

Format and logistics

Registration is available online for a fee of $30; registered participants receive a cotton blend T-shirt and a bag of goodies while supplies last. A UPF 50 long sleeve shirt is available for a $10 upcharge. The shirt selection deadline is midnight January 14, 2026. Age brackets are 0-16, 17-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, and 55+. Awards include medals for the top three male and female finishers in each age group and a Traveling Cup awarded to the fastest team based on the average time of its top three runners. Early packet pick-up is scheduled February 23-27 at the Marion County Office of the County Engineer, 412 SE 25th Ave, Ocala, FL 34471. Teams require a minimum of three registered runners.
