Event overview
The Mare Island Half Marathon, 10K and 5K takes place on Sunday, June 28, 2026 on Mare Island in Vallejo, CA. The event is presented by iRecreate, LLC and hosted at Mare Island Brewing Co. at the Coal Sheds location. All distances remain entirely on Mare Island and the course mix includes paved and unpaved sections. Minor course changes are possible as Mare Island undergoes revitalization; the organizer will provide any updates.

Courses and features
The half marathon route passes through the historic naval yard on the east side, climbs to the island’s highest point with views of San Pablo Bay, Mt. Diablo, and Mt. Tamalpais, and follows the San Pablo Bay Trail along the western edge. The 10K goes past the Admiral housing area and along the San Pablo Bay Trail to a waterfront finish. The 5K runs by the Old Admiral housing and accommodates running strollers. The Kid’s 0.5K Dash is an out-and-back course of 250 meters each way around a historic shipyard crane; parents are encouraged to accompany children ages 6 and under due to proximity to the waterfront.
Registration and logistics
Pre-registered participants receive a race t-shirt and a finisher medal. There is a post-race celebration at Mare Island Brewing Co. Overall and age group awards are given to the top three finishers in each division when a division has at least five registrants.
