About the race
The GJ Gardner Maraetai event is held at Te Puru Park, Beachlands, on Sunday 14 March 2027 with a rain date of Sunday 21 March 2027. The venue sits on Whitford-Maraetai Road and the event base is located in the north-eastern section of the reserve near the beach.

Participants collect race numbers either on the Saturday prior to the event or on race morning; AHMS Series Pass entrants receive numbers by courier ahead of the series. A compulsory safety briefing takes place at each start line shortly before each race. A self-service Gear Drop and a Key Drop are provided at the event; bags must be labelled with race numbers and the area is uncovered. A large bank of event portaloos is located about 100 metres east of the main event space with additional toilets on course.
Aid stations are positioned approximately every 3–5 km; the first table serves water and the second table serves electrolyte or sport drink. Directional signage and marshals mark turns and intersections. A valid race number with timing tag must be worn on the front of the shirt during participation.
All registered finishers receive a commemorative finisher medal and a banana or snack bar at the finish. Results are updated in real time and can be accessed via the QR code on the race number. An awards ceremony and spot prize draws take place after the races; eligibility for spot prizes requires being present and activating the spot prize registration mat.
