Manchester Backyard Ultra
The Manchester Backyard Ultra is an endurance event held at Giants Seat Scout Camp in Radcliffe, Manchester (Off Ringley Road West, M26 1DY) on 12 June 2027. The format requires runners to complete a set loop of 4.167 miles (6.706 km) each hour. Each lap must be finished within one hour and any remaining time within that hour is used for rest and recovery. The event continues until only one runner completes a final solo loop and is declared the winner.
The Manchester course is an out and back route - runners head to the top of the park or trail and then follow the same route back. The route is fully marked with signs and marshals to guide competitors from the first loop.
Included with entry are an entry ticket, participant medal, winner trophy and medal, a limited rest marquee for those without a pitch, a pitch space to set up a rest area, parking for one car (visitors first come, first served), hot showers, hot and cold water, drinks and snacks, and event photography.
Compulsory kit includes a head torch, chest torch, or waist torch. The organisers strongly recommend high-visibility clothing for night loops. Key rules: runners must be inside the starting corral when the bell rings for each new loop; no late or early starts; loops must be completed within one hour; no personal or artificial aids on a loop; eliminated or non-competitors may not accompany active runners on course.
