About the race
Macclesfield Running Festival stages a set of fully road closed races in the historic town of Macclesfield and the surrounding Cheshire countryside. The event offers three measured, chip-timed distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
All routes follow a professionally marked and measured single loop that starts from Macclesfield Leisure Centre’s athletics track and passes through town streets and nearby country roads. Road closures affect a number of local roads on the course, including Priory Lane, Kennedy Avenue, Macclesfield Road, Chelford Road, School Lane, B5087, Slade Lane, Hocker Lane, Birtles Lane, Wrigley Lane, Whirley Road and Birtles Road.
The festival includes roadside aid stations, live performances from local bands and community spectator support. The event is organised in collaboration with Macclesfield Harriers and was previously known as Run Macc Fest. There is a strict three hour cut off time for the Half Marathon.
