Malachi Water Wind Woods Foundation 5K Hurricane Run/Walk
The Malachi Water Wind Woods Foundation 5K Hurricane Run/Walk takes place in Stevensville on the 5 km (3.1 miles) Terrapin and Cross Island Trails. The course provides views of the Chesapeake Bay and utilizes the local trail networks at Terrapin Nature Park.
This event is organized to support recovery efforts for those affected by environmental disasters, specifically hurricanes Helena and Milton. Proceeds from the race are directed to Samaritan's Purse and the Lumbee Tribe in North Carolina to assist communities impacted by these storms. The event also aims to raise awareness regarding ecological challenges and environmental protection programs.
Participants can access the following activities and services:
- 5 km Hurricane Run/Walk
- Post-Event Party located at the Kent Island Yacht Club
- On-site packet pickup and registration near the Terrapin Nature Park restrooms
- Hydration stations providing water at the start and finish lines
The post-event celebration is located approximately 1.3 miles from the trail and features live music by the McFadden Garcia Trio, a guest speaker, and a lite fare luncheon. The gathering also includes raffles and prizes for attendees. T-shirts are provided to the first 50 people who register for the event.
