Making Waves for Autism 5K
The Making Waves for Autism 5K takes place at Jackson Morrow Park in Kokomo to celebrate Autism Awareness Month. This event supports the mission of providing inclusive water safety and swim education for children of all abilities, particularly those with autism. All proceeds assist programs that offer swim education, with a portion of funds donated as in-kind support to select ABA centers. Children enrolled in surrounding Kokomo ABA clinics are provided with free admission.
The event features two distinct distances on a paved park trail:
- 3.1 Miles: Approximately three laps around the scenic park trail.
- 1 Mile Kids Dash: One lap around the trail for participants under 17 years old.
The 5K is an untimed event designed to be accessible for various fitness levels. Participants may choose to run, jog, walk, or use strollers. The course follows a recurring loop within the park grounds, providing a consistent surface for all attendees. Registration is open to the public, and the event serves as a community gathering to support aquatic education and local ABA centers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
