Major Reid Nannen Memorial 5K
In its 10th year, the Major Reid Nannen Memorial event is hosted by Hopedale Medical Complex together with the Hopedale Wellness Center in Hopedale, Illinois. The event program includes a timed 5K run and an untimed 1-mile walk, with registration available online and day-of registration handled at the race registration table. Registration closes on June 15; fees listed for the events are $30 for the 5K and $20 for the 1 Mile.
Participants can pick up race packets on July 3 at the Hopedale Wellness Center; day-of pickup is available at the race registration table. Shirt color selection is guaranteed for registrations completed by June 14; there is no shirt guarantee after June 15.
The 5K honors U.S. Marine Major Reid B. Nannen, a Hopedale native who died in service while training at TOPGUN NAS in Fallon, Nevada. The running course goes through the heart of Hopedale and event services include live-time results. Awards for the 5K include monetary awards for the fastest male and female based on gun time, and age-group awards for the top two male and female finishers in each age group based on net chip time, where net time begins when a participant crosses the start line. An awards ceremony is held on race day, and a post-race gathering with snacks and beverages follows.
