Major Reid Nannen Memorial 5K
The Major Reid Nannen Memorial 5K is a running and walking event held in Hopedale, Illinois on July 4, 2026. The event honors U.S. Marine Major Reid B. Nannen, a Hopedale native.
The event includes two distances:
- 5K Run, starting at 7:30 AM.
- 1 Mile (Untimed), starting at 8:00 AM.
Participants can register online. Packet pickup is scheduled for July 3 from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the Hopedale Wellness Center, with day-of pickup also available. To guarantee a shirt in the correct size, registration must be completed by June 15. Registration prices increase after June 15 at 11:59 PM.
Awards are given for the 5K event. The fastest male and female runners (based on gun time) receive a monetary award. Age group awards are also presented to the top two male and female finishers in various categories.
The course goes through the town of Hopedale. Post-race activities include an awards ceremony starting at 8:30 AM, a party with snacks and beverages, and live results. An option exists to purchase a $25 commemorative yard sign to honor or remember a loved one, which will be placed along the 1 Mile walk course. The deadline for ordering these signs is June 15.
