Mad Trapper Camp Fortune Classic
The Mad Trapper Camp Fortune Classic is a singletrack trail race held at Camp Fortune in Chelsea, Quebec, about 20 minutes from downtown Ottawa in the Gatineau Hills. The listed venue address is 300 Chemin Dunlop, Chelsea QC J9B 2N3.
Races take place on forested mountain bike trails with roots, rocks and rollers. The course emphasizes continuous singletrack rather than ski hill repeats. Organizers note there is no tall grass and no intentional mud on the course.
Distances offered:
- 3K Try a Trail, gentle elevation and mixed singletrack
- 5K single loop on flowing mountain bike singletrack
- 10K two laps of the classic loop with a pass through the lodge at 5K
There are no cutoff times. Aid is provided at the Camp Fortune lodge with water, electrolyte drink and gels; there are no aid stations on the trails. The 10K route allows runners to access personal nutrition when passing the lodge after the first lap.
Post race hospitality at the lodge includes a BBQ, acknowledgements for winners and random prize draws.
