Leavenworth Mai Blumenlauf
The Leavenworth Mai Blumenlauf (May Flower Run) is an annual athletic event held in Leavenworth, Washington, known as the Bavarian Village. The race takes place amidst the Cascade Mountains and is held during the Maifest celebration. The course routes utilize the city's downtown area and riverfront trails, with the start and finish lines located at Enchantment Park.
The event offers several race distances for participants of different interests:
- 5 km: A family style circuit consisting of one lap.
- 10 km: A distance completed by running two circuit laps.
- Half Marathon: A long-distance route involving a prologue lap plus four circuit laps.
Registration for the 5 km distance supports the Cascade Medical Foundation. The event is officially sanctioned by USATF and utilizes computer chip timing for accurate results. Participants receive a custom finisher race bell, and the event provides on-course support, first aid, and post-race refreshments including fruit, cookies, muffins, water, and sports drinks. Age group awards are also presented.
The location is situated approximately 2.5 hours east of the Puget Sound region, near the Wenatchee-Okanogan National Forest and the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area. The organizer, TedDriven, uses event proceeds to fund cancer research and support local organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
