LYSB Midsummer Run
The LYSB Midsummer Run takes place in Old Lyme, Connecticut, as part of the local Midsummer Festival. This event acts as a benefit for the Lymes' Youth Service Bureau (LYSB), supporting community programs such as mental wellness, drug and alcohol prevention, and early childhood development. The course begins at 59 Lyme Street and follows a route through the streets of the Old Lyme Historic District.
Participants can choose from the following event distances:
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
- Kids K
The 5K Run is a chip-timed road race with timing services provided by Fast Track Timing. The 5K Walk follows the same distance but is not timed, while the Kids K is a fun run designed for younger participants. All finishers receive a medal. For the 5K Run, awards are presented to the top three overall men and women, as well as winners in age divisions ranging from 14 and under to 70 and over.
Commemorative T-shirts are provided to the first 200 registered participants. Packet pick-up is available the day before the race at the LYSB office or on the morning of the event. On-site registration is available until the morning of the race, though online registration closes the previous night. The run coincides with a weekend of artistic and cultural activities throughout the village. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
