LV5K and 1 Mile Walk/Run

The LV5K is a memorial event hosted by the Lauren Vaughn Memorial Foundation. It takes place at Alexandria Senior High School, specifically on the football field located at 800 Ola St. in Alexandria, Louisiana. The event serves to remember Lauren Vaughn and others who lost their lives to impaired driving. Proceeds from the registration fees support a nursing scholarship at NSU for the Accelerated BS to BSN Program and help raise awareness regarding the dangers of drunk and impaired driving.

Participants can choose from the following in-person and remote options:

  • 5K run or walk
  • 1 Mile walk or run
  • Virtual 5K for remote participants
  • Sleep In option for those who wish to support the foundation without running

The in-person 5K and 1 Mile races include an awards ceremony following the events. Awards are presented to the first, second, and third place overall male and female finishers, as well as winners in specific age groups. The 5K age categories range from 10 and under to 70 and over, while the 1 Mile categories range from 5 and under to 18 and over. Virtual participants receive recognition through digital shout-outs.

Finisher medals are provided to a limited number of participants based on order of registration. Those who register on or before March 15 receive a commemorative shirt at packet pickup. Participants who choose the Sleep In option or the virtual race can arrange to collect their event materials at a later date from designated locations in Alexandria or Pineville. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
