Event details

The LV5K & 1 Mile Walk/Run takes place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Alexandria Senior High (800 Ola St., Alexandria, LA 71303). The event is a memorial walk/run held to remember and honor those who lost their lives to impaired driving. Proceeds will support a memorial scholarship at NSU for the Accelerated BS to BSN Program and aim to raise awareness about drunk and impaired driving.

Participation options

Participants may take part in person, virtually, or via a "Sleep In" option. Distances offered include:

  • 1 Mile
  • 5K
  • Virtual 5K

Packets can be picked up the day before the event at Little Cakes with Big Attitude (4120 Jackson St., Alexandria, LA 71303). Registrations received on or before 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 will receive a shirt at packet pickup; late and race day registrants may receive a shirt if extras are available. The price for the 1-mile and 5K increases on March 23, 2026. A limited number of medals are available.

Awards and categories

Awards are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall male and female, and for individual age groups in the in-person 5K and 1-mile races. The 5K age groups are: 10 & under; 11-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 & over. The 1-mile age groups are: 5 & under; 6-9; 10-13; 14-17; 18 & over.
