LV 5K & 1 Mile Walk/Run
The Lauren Vaughn Memorial Foundation organizes the LV5K walk/run at Alexandria Senior High School, 800 Ola St., Alexandria, LA 71303. The event honors the life of Lauren Vaughn and others who lost their lives to impaired driving. Funds raised support the Lauren Vaughn Memorial Scholarship at NSU for the Accelerated BS to BSN Program and aim to raise awareness about drunk and impaired driving.
Participation options include both in-person and virtual formats:

- 1 Mile
- Virtual 5K (does not include a t-shirt)
Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, March 26, 2027, from 10:00 to 4:00 at Little Cakes with Big Attitude (4120 Jackson St., Alexandria, LA 71303). Race day packet pickup is available before the in-person races.
Awards are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Overall Male and Female and for individual age groups in both the 5K and 1-mile in-person races. The 5K age groups are 10 and under, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. The 1-mile age groups are 5 and under, 6-9, 10-13, 14-17, and 18 and over. An awards ceremony follows the 5K.
Registrations received on or before March 7 will receive a shirt at packet pickup; late and race day registrants may receive a shirt if extras remain. A limited number of finisher medals are available. Registration fees listed are $20.00 for the 1-mile, $25.00 for the 5K, and $25.00 for the virtual 5K. Registration opens April 12, 2026 and in-person registration closes March 15, 2027; virtual registration closes March 28, 2027. Prices for the 1-mile and 5K increase on March 14, 2027.
