Lula Lake Trail Blazer
The Lula Lake Trail Blazer is a trail race event at Lula Lake Land Trust on Lookout Mountain, GA. The event offers multiple courses that use trails within the Core Preserve, Moonshine Trails, Rock Creek and other Lula Lake trail systems. Portions of the courses pass waterfalls, a bluff overlook and sections that follow Rock Creek.
Distances include:
- 50K
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- Kids Fun Run (1 mile, ages 12 and under; parents may run with children)
Course notes: the 10K route gains about 630 ft of elevation. The half marathon gains about 1,400 ft and uses the 10K course for its final section. The 50K follows the half marathon for roughly the first 10 miles, continues to the Nickajack section of the CCT, reaches High Point and returns to the Core Preserve with approximately 5,000 ft of total elevation gain. There are six aid stations and one light aid station on the 50K; the first aid station is at mile 7, with most stations spaced about 3-4 miles apart. All aid stations except one are fully stocked with water, Tailwind, Coke, sandwiches, crackers, salty chips, pickles, fruit and trail mix. Aid station 5 has water only.
Additional details: camping and a beer mile are offered as add-ons, the kids run does not include shirts, packet pick-up details are to be announced, there are no refunds or transfers, and the event runs rain or shine. Proceeds support trail construction and maintenance and the trust’s conservation mission. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in men, women and non-binary categories for each distance.
