Lula Lake Trail Blazer - Lookout Mountain, GA
The Lula Lake Trail Blazer is a trail running event organized by Lula Lake Land Trust to support trail construction and maintenance on its properties. The event returns to trails on Lookout Mountain and directs proceeds to the trust’s trail work and conservation mission.
Distances offered:
- 50K - approx. 5,000 ft elevation gain
- Half Marathon - more than 1,400 ft elevation gain
- 10K - 630 ft elevation gain
- Kids 12 and under - 1 mile fun run, parents may join
Course notes: the 10K passes Lula Lake waterfalls, a bluff overlook, and follows Rock Creek with single-track climbs. The half marathon begins on an old railroad grade, includes about 800 ft of climbing over seven miles on single-track, then finishes on the 10K section. The 50K follows the half marathon for the first ~10 miles, continues onto the CCT Nickajack section to High Point, and returns to the Core Preserve. Portions of the 50K back half are on private property and are not accessible before race day. Hiking poles are allowed. Crew parking is most convenient at the Nickajack trailhead; runners pass it twice.
Aid stations: the 50K has six aid stations and one light aid station, with the first at mile 7 and most spaced roughly 3–4 miles apart. All aid stations except station 5 offer water, Tailwind, sodas, sandwiches, salty snacks, fruits, and trail mix; aid station 5 provides only water.
Additional information: a kids fun run includes obstacles and food; camping and a beer mile are available as paid add-ons; packet pick-up details are to be announced. There are no refunds or transfers; deferrals are considered only for certain medical situations. Awards are given for top three finishers in women, men, and non-binary categories for each distance. The event is planned rain or shine; extreme weather could prompt a delay or reschedule. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
