Lula Lake Trail Blazer
The Lula Lake Trail Blazer is a trail running event at Lula Lake Land Trust in Lookout Mountain, GA, featuring multiple distances that use the trust's trail network and preserves. The event offers these distances:
- 50K
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- Kids Fun Run 1 mile (ages 12 and under)
Course details vary by distance. The 10K passes Lula Lake’s waterfalls, bluff overlook, and Rock Creek with about 630 ft of elevation gain on single-track and gravel sections. The half marathon climbs through the Core Preserve and Moonshine Trails with more than 1,400 ft of elevation gain, including about 800 ft across seven miles of single-track. The 50K follows the half course for roughly 10 miles, continues to the Nickajack section of the CCT, reaches High Point, and returns to the Core Preserve with about 5,000 ft of elevation gain; runners pass the Nickajack Trailhead twice.
Aid is provided along the 50K course with six full aid stations and one light aid station. The first aid station is at mile 7; many stations are spaced about 3–4 miles apart and the longest stretch between aid is about 5 miles. Most aid stations offer water, Tailwind, soda, sandwiches, salty snacks, fruit, and trail mix; one station provides water only.
Event features include a kids fun run with obstacles, camping add-on options, and a separate beer mile event that requires age verification. Registration fees and add-on prices vary by distance; proceeds support Lula Lake Land Trust trail building and maintenance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
