Event format and rules
LSD Back Yard Ultra is a Backyard Ultra format race held on 11 April 2026 at West Benridge Farm, Morpeth. Competitors run a 4.167-mile (6.7 km) loop each hour. The loop must be completed within the hour and the race continues until one runner completes one more loop than any other and is declared the winner. All other competitors are recorded as DNF. The event follows official Backyard Ultra rules, uses manual timing, and prohibits artificial aids such as trekking poles. Runners must remain on course during each loop except to use restrooms, and no non-competitors are allowed on the course.
Course and facilities
The route runs over farmland, trails, and ancient woodland and is described as flat and fast with about 200 ft of ascent and descent per loop. The course is fully marked and returns each hour to the main HQ field. On-site facilities include toilets, first aid, food vendors (payable separately), parking for athletes and crew, athlete camping with space for one 3x3 m gazebo or tent per runner, and overflow camping for supporters (£20 per tent). Well-behaved pets are allowed and closed fire pits are permitted only in the overflow field. A live stream and free professional photography will be available.
Entries, prizes and other details
The race is part of the Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra World Championship Association. The Last Standing winner receives £500 in Start Fitness vouchers; other participants will receive a finisher item to be announced. Entries close 14 days before the event. A full race pack with schedule, kit list, camping layout, and safety details will be provided to registered runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
