Louisville Hungry Turkey 5K
The Louisville Hungry Turkey is a chip-timed 5K held in Louisville, KY, with start and finish at Waterfront Park Great Lawn South. The event includes a Kids Dash and both fun-run and age-group competitive categories. Course time limit for the 5K is 1 hour 20 minutes.
Event gear options include a classic t-shirt or an upgrade to a thin-tec soft polyester pullover. Finish-line amenities note Bamboo donuts will be available. Water stations on course provide water. There is no gear check on site.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and overall. Age groups listed include 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, then five-year spans from 20-24 through 65-69, and 70 plus. All Kids Dash participants receive a finisher award. Event record times listed for the 5K are 15:46 for males and 18:20 for females, both set in 2021.
The race supports the WHAS Crusade for Children; donations to that charity are directed to programs for children with special needs. The Louisville Hungry Turkey participates in the nationwide Thankful Turkey leaderboard, and results and photos are posted after the event. Participants are required to sign an online waiver; strollers are allowed for walkers and joggers only with a parent or guardian waiver, and dogs are not permitted.
