Louisiana Watermelon Festival 5k - Farmerville, LA
The Louisiana Watermelon Festival 5k is a community running event held at the Farmerville First Baptist Church parking lot, 403 N. Main St., Farmerville, LA 71241. The course features a fast first mile downhill followed by a steeper section near mile 2 that organizers refer to as "Watermelon Mountain."
The event offers a single distance, a 5k (3.1 miles). Pre-registration fee is listed as $25. Race day registration will be available at a higher fee of $40. Entry includes a race t-shirt; online registrants are guaranteed a shirt if registered by July 13, 2026.
Proceeds from the event will go to Willpower Foundation, Inc., a volunteer nonprofit in Northeast Louisiana that organizes fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Awards are presented separately for male and female runners. Overall prizes include 1st Overall and 1st Overall Masters. Age-group awards for 1st through 3rd place are given in the following brackets: 0-9; 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; and 70 and over.
Skates and roller blades are prohibited on the racecourse. Finishers receive slices of locally grown Louisiana watermelon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
