Lou Cox at DeWeese Park 5K
The event is a community 5K road race held at DeWeese Park, 2600 DeWeese Parkway, Dayton, OH 45414. The course is a flat 5K (3.1 mile) loop on paved recreation paths that passes through three parks : DeWeese Park, Triangle Park, and Island MetroPark : along the banks of the Stillwater and Great Miami Rivers.
Parking is available in the large gravel lot at the entrance to Triangle Park at the corner of Ridge Avenue and DeWeese Parkway. All participants must check in before the race and attach an assigned timing chip to one shoe; timing chips are distributed at the check-in table with a green tablecloth. Organizers recommend arriving at least one hour before the race to park, check in, and warm up.
Registration is available online via RunSignup and can also be completed in person on race day; hard copy registration sheets are available if needed. Minors must be registered by a parent or guardian online or in person. For groups of athletes under 18 who are not preregistered online, a parent or guardian must sign a permission slip for each minor; coaches cannot sign for athletes.
Fee structure: current ORRRC members run free when membership is properly applied or proof is shown; non-members pay $10 for ages 15 and up and entry is free for ages 14 and under.
Awards include top three overall male and female, first-place male and female in age groups 18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+, and top three overall male and female Wolverines.
Animals are not permitted except identified service dogs; other animals will not be issued timing chips and will be removed from the event. Volunteers support event operations and staffing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
