Event Overview
The Lostock Hall Carnival 5km is a road running event held in Lostock Hall, Preston. The race takes place on Wateringpool Lane and utilizes a course consisting of roads closed specifically for the annual carnival procession and family day. The event is a partnership between the Lostock Hall Village Team and RunSmart.
The course is predominantly flat and follows a 5 km distance. Participants complete two laps of the closed road circuit, which allows spectators several opportunities to view the runners during the event. The race is conducted under UK Athletics rules and is open to individuals aged 11 years and older on the day of the race. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at the event.
Logistics and Facilities
Race numbers are collected on the day of the event at a location adjacent to the start line. Dedicated car parking is provided at Lostock Hall Academy off Todd Lane North; this location is selected to ensure vehicles can exit the area while other roads remain closed for the carnival. From the parking area, it is a short walk to the starting line on Wateringpool Lane.
All finishers receive a medal upon completion of the course. The event recognizes various achievement categories, including prizes for the first three overall finishers, the first three female finishers, and the first finishers in all veteran categories.
