Loop The Lake - Traverse City
Loop The Lake is a trail race presented by the Traverse City Track Club that follows the Boardman Lake Loop Trail and starts and finishes in Hull Park on the north side of the lake. The course runs in a clockwise direction around Boardman Lake.
The route uses mostly pavement and also includes gravel sections, bridges, and boardwalks. The east side is heavily wooded with gentle curves; the southern end crosses two bridges and features an extended boardwalk over the lake cove; the west side is mainly pavement and the northern end includes a bridge over the Boardman River.
Distances offered:
- 4 miles open to runners and walkers USATF certified
- 8 miles recommended for runners only
- Two person relay two runners each complete about 4 miles
Every participant receives a Loop The Lake Racetracker Technical Run Dri running cap plus snacks and beverages. Awards include top three overall and top three masters 40 plus male and female in the 4 mile and 8 mile events with custom plates handcrafted at ClaySpacetc. Age group top three awards are custom clay Loop The Lake 2025 medals. Relay awards cover male, female, coed, and masters teams; masters teams are a combined age of 100 or more.
The course will be open to the public with signage provided. Parking is not available inside Hull Park but there are nearby options within walking distance including parking decks. Packet pickup and late registration are located at Hull Park with online signup available and QR codes onsite; no cash or paper registration will be accepted.
The Boardman Lake Loop is owned by the City of Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, and Garfield Township. TART Trails partners with those entities to support trail development and maintenance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
