Long Island 6 Hour 60th Birthday Celebration Run and Relay : in Memory of Fred von der Heydt
The event is a six hour timed run and relay held on September 27, 2026 at Belmont Lake State Park in West Babylon, NY. Participants may run or walk as many laps as they choose on a flat, scenic course that is mostly on a friendly dirt path around Belmont Lake.
Entries are available for individual runners and for relay teams. Team formats include teams of four and teams of six; teams compete to cover the most mileage together. The course is a 1.50 mile loop, which places an aid station at each loop. A shorter finishing loop is used near the end of the event.
Amenities for registrants include a commemorative crewneck sweatshirt for participants, personalized bibs if registered three weeks in advance, live and same day results by online, text, and email, and free finish line and course photos. Awards are planned for top overall male and female finishers, top male, female, and coed teams in four and six person categories, special awards for participants born in 1966, and medals for any runner who covers at least 26.2 miles.
A portion of event proceeds is donated to the Nassau County Firefighters Museum and the Northport Running Club Youth Program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
