Event overview
The Long Island 6 Hour 60th Birthday Celebration Run and Relay is scheduled for September 27, 2026 at Belmont Lake State Park in North Babylon, NY. The event is presented by New York Ultrarunning and elitefeats and is held in memory of Fred von der Heydt. It includes individual competitors and relay teams for male, female and coed four-person and six-person teams. Registration options include individual and team entries, with pricing tiers and a discount for people born in 1965. Registrants may receive a commemorative crewneck sweatshirt; members of the Class of 1965 are offered a hooded sweatshirt.
Format, course and services
The event runs for six hours on a looped course measuring 1.75 miles per loop. The course is described as flat and scenic, mostly on a dirt path near and around Belmont Lake, with an additional short loop option. Runners may complete as many or as few loops as they choose. Aid is available on the loop, and post-race food and drink are provided. Bib pickup is at the Pine Pavilion adjacent to the north parking lot near the start/finish area. Personalized bibs are available for registrants who sign up three weeks in advance. Live online results and free finish-line and course photos are offered.
Awards and beneficiaries
Awards include top three male and female overall, top male, female and coed four- and six-person teams, special awards for top male and female Class of 1965 entrants, medals for runners who cover at least 26.2 miles, and a best team costume prize.
