The Long Beach Robert C. McAvoy Labor Day 5 Mile Race is a community road race scheduled for 2027 in Long Beach, NY. Registration for the 2027 edition is not yet open; interested participants can request a notification when registration opens. The previous edition, the 36th annual race, took place on September 7, 2026 in Long Beach.
The event uses an accurately measured five (5) mile USATF certified course. The course is described as flat and finishes where it starts on Laurelton Blvd and the boardwalk. Baby strollers are not allowed on the race course. All race participants may use the beach for free by showing their race bib at the beach entrance.
Race day amenities include participant T-shirts distributed at number pickup on race day. Bib pickup is handled on race morning; registrants who register at least three weeks in advance are eligible for a personalized race number. Runners must know their bib number to pick up their number, and a self lookup area is provided for those who do not.
Awards are given to the top overall male and female, top wheelchair participant, and the top three male and female finishers in standard age categories from 14 and under through 80 and over.
