Event Details

The 36th Annual Robert C. McAvoy Labor Day 5 Mile Race will take place on September 7, 2026. The event starts at 8:00 AM and is held rain or shine in Long Beach, New York.

Registration

The event features a single distance: a 5 mile run. Early bird registration costs $35, with a processing fee bringing the total to $38.98. Prices increase after September 3. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Participants who register at least three weeks in advance can have their name printed on their bib.

Course Information

The course is described as an accurately measured five mile, flat, and fast route. It is USATF certified. The race starts and finishes on Laurelton Boulevard and the boardwalk. Baby strollers are not allowed on the race course.

Location and Schedule

The event location is the Boardwalk at Laurelton Blvd., with the address 98 Laurelton Blvd., Long Beach, NY 11561. Bib pickup begins one hour before the event start time, starting at 6:30 AM. T-shirts are given to registrants at bib pickup on race day. All race participants receive free beach access by showing their race bib at the entrance.

Awards

Awards are given to the top male and female overall finishers and to the top wheelchair participant. Awards are also given to the top three male and female finishers in multiple age categories, ranging from 14 & under to 80+.
