Lone Star Night Run
The Lone Star Night Run is an evening trail event held at the Lake Mineral Wells State Park Trailway in Weatherford, Texas. The course is situated within the foothills of North Texas and utilizes the Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway. The terrain consists of an open trail with a soft, fine gravel surface. The route is relatively flat, featuring a slight incline on the way out and a downhill stretch toward the finish line.
The event follows an out-and-back format, with the start and finish lines located at the Weatherford Trailhead. Because the race takes place at night, all participants are required to wear headlamps. The expected weather conditions for this September event typically range between 75 and 85 degrees.
The race offers several distance options:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K (6.24 miles)
- 10K RUCK (6.24 miles with weight requirements)
- 5K (3.12 miles)
Participants in the 10K RUCK must carry specific weight based on their body mass: those over 150 lbs carry a 30 lb ruck, while those under 150 lbs carry a 20 lb ruck. This event is part of the Texas Summer Night Series.
The race is operated as a cupless event, meaning runners must provide their own bottles or cups for use at water refill stations. Amenities provided include aid station food, photography, and a shuttle service from overflow parking at Cartwright Park.
