Event Overview
The Lochore Aquathlon is a multi-race event taking place at Lochore Meadows Country Park. It is part of the British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series, with races for athletes aged 9 and over.
Available Races
The event offers several race categories:
- Adult Sprint Aquathlon: For participants aged 15 and over. This involves an 800m open water swim followed by a 5km run.
- TriStar 3: For athletes aged 13-14. They complete two separate aquathlons (a 300m swim with a 1.2km run, and a 200m swim with a 1.5km run), with combined results.
- TriStar 2: For athletes aged 11-12. The format is identical to TriStar 3: two aquathlons (300m swim/ 1.2km run and 200m swim/ 1.5km run) with combined results.
- TriStar 1: For athletes aged 9-10. This is a single race consisting of a 200m open water swim followed by a 1.2km run.
All swims are open water with a deep water start. Wetsuits are advised and may be mandatory depending on water temperature.
Event Series and Selection
The event is part of the National Triathlon Series, with results from the TriStar and Super Series races qualifying for points. The TriStar 2 and 3 races also serve as a selection event for the Inter Regional Championships. To be eligible for selection, participants must meet criteria including having Triathlon Scotland membership and living in Scotland or being an active member of an affiliated club.

Triathlon Scotland states it is committed to inclusion. The event has a pregnancy, IVF, and adoption deferral policy. It offers equal podium spots and prizes for male and female participants.
