About the race
The Lismore Samson Fitness Challenge is a multi-event fundraiser held at Hepburn Park in Lismore on 5 and 6 March 2027. The event raises funds for Our Kids, a local charity that purchases paediatric equipment for Lismore Base Hospital and surrounding Northern Rivers hospitals. The main format is a four-person team challenge that places teams through nine physical tasks. Listed challenges include a farmers walk with jerry cans, a prowler push, a 130 kg truck tyre flip, a burpee challenge, a 2 x 2 km run, a 1 km swim, a sled plug, and an obstacle course.
The quickest team to complete all challenges receives the Samson title for the year. The programme also includes separate events on the weekend: Samson Solo on the Friday evening, Team Samson on Saturday, Team Samson Teen and Junior on Saturday, and Samson Kids on Saturday. The event has a history of raising funds for paediatric equipment; previous editions helped purchase a ventilator for the Special Care Nursery at Lismore Base Hospital.
